Sound by MitchellQ. Can you recall a particular sound which strongly evokes a place or memory?
The clattering of native sheep's hooves as they run over the rocks on the shore.
Q. Where do you remember hearing this sound?
North Ronaldsay, Orkney
Q. What is your memory or story surrounding this sound?
The native sheep feed on seaweed on the shore, and there are distinct flocks around the 13-mile perimeter of the island. Each flock is hefted to a certain area of the shore. The sheep move along in front of you as you walk along the shore, but on reaching the limit of their heft, they turn and run at high speed past you, producing a familiar sound (and smell!) as they charge past.
Q. How does this sound make you feel?
Nostalgic
